Tapping Into Community Funds of Knowledge. Effective Strategies for English Language Acquisition: A Synthesis of Ethnographic Research.
Genzuk's research has focused on teacher education programs that address the development of a more diverse teaching force for the changing demographic patterns in North American public schools. He has also investigated the restructuring of teacher education through collaborative efforts of universities, societal institutions and agencies.
This research includes policy and program issues addressing minority student retention and seeks to better understand factors that influence student persistence in higher education.

He has taught courses on the theory and application of bilingual education and teaching English as a second language, as well as the socio-political context of bilingual curriculum and instruction.
His research and writing centers on issues related to the academic achievement of language minority students, including cognitive growth and psychosocial factors affecting students success.
His interests also focus on Paraeducators: Genzuk has written on global learning networks as a powerful tool for creating contexts of empowerment in a diverse society for both teacher and students. Concentrating on how other languages can be used in conjunction with English to further intercultural and multilingual learning when teachers and students participate in computer-based global learning networks.
